Deer Resistant Landscaping
Best Approaches to Landscaping in Deer Country

(A) Select only "deer resistant" plants for your landscape. While not all plants make the list, there are many-many great plants that do! For example, see the Feather Reed Grass and Catmint in the upper right corner, both of which flower all summer and are very low maintenance. We have designed and installed countless landscapes in the worst deer country that are gorgeous, provide four seasons of interest, and are low maintenance. See our: Deer Resistant Plant List.

(B) Protect your landscape with deer fence, which is either 8'-10' tall netting or a 6' tall solid fence. You might need to install a gate or cattle grate on your driveway. As long as the fence is in working condition, the deer will stay out of your garden and you are free to select whichever plants you desire. If you are worried about the look of a fence around your property, we can offer many great design solutions that will incorporate the fence into your overall landscape.
